Powering Stella On

To turn Stella on, plug her in.

If a lightning icon shows on the lower screen, her tablet module's battery may have fully discharged during shipping. Plug her in overnight (or until the lightning icon disappears), then unplug and re-plug her.

Please be patient as she powers on. If you run into any trouble, see this troubleshooting article.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

  1. If Stella is running, tap on the floating unlock icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  2. Enter the default manager PIN of 1989. Make sure to change this PIN in the dashboard to one of your choice. You should now be able to go to the home screen.
    1. If the app is unlocked, and you want to go home, you should swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show the back/home buttons. Press the home or back buttons to go to the home screen.
  3. Tap the Settings app.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
  5. Select your network and enter its password.
    1. If you have a hidden network, press the Plus sign on the bottom right of the screen.

Note that you have around 2 minutes to enter your Wi-Fi password before Stella will relaunch.

Troubleshooting the Wi-Fi Connection

Note that your Wi-Fi cannot have a login screen. If Stella is not working correctly or receiving updates, it could be because of a firewall rule that you have. Please edit your firewall settings to allow Stella to have unrestricted access to the Internet on all ports.

Day One Updates

We may have updated Stella while in transit. As soon as she connects to Wi-Fi, those queued updates will begin to apply. This may cause Stella to:

  • Restart multiple times
  • Show a wrench icon where the Stella app icon should be
  • Exit abruptly during initial setup

Please be patient as she receives all the updates she missed while in transit.
